THOMAS HORSLEY 12-BORE 1863 PATENT PULL-BACK TOPLEVER BAR-IN-WOOD SINGLE-BITE SNAP-ACTION HAMMERGUN, serial no. 1522, 30in. black powder only damascus barrels (loose, pitted and dented, top rib loose,under-rib damaged), the rib engraved 'THOMAS HORSLEY. MAKER. YORK PATENT. 2410 & 1138.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. choke in both, T. Horsley patent action incorporating Horsley patent pull back toplever, patent no. 2410 of 1st October 1863 and Horsley patent retracting strikers (late variant), patent no. 1138 of 17th April 1867, rounded bar-in-wood, non-rebounding sidelocks with cammed hammers, border and partial acanthus scroll engraving, bright finish, 14 1/2in. stock (some splits and losses and poorly chequered) including 3/4in. wooden extension and buttplate (buttplate chipped), fore-end with cross-pin release catch (some losses), and chequered gripping nubbin, weight 7lb. 3oz.
